April 18th, St. Augustine - 4th Annual Peace Scholarship Presentation
1:00 PM, St. Augustine Amphitheatre

 

St. Augustine People for Peace and Justice, Grandparents for Peace and Central Florida Veterans For Peace Chapter 136 will present their annual Peace Scholarship. This year the scholarship value has been raised to $1000.00 and has been named after Peg McIntire, founding member of St. Augustine People for Peace and Justice and Grandparents for Peace and a lifelong advocate for peace and social justice. The scholarship is being presented to the St. Johns County High School senior who submits the best essay. This year's topic is: "New Beginnings - How can America become a leader in bringing peace and social justice to the world?"

 

The scholarship will be presented by Zollie Goodman, Iraq war veteran, Winter Soldier, and founding member of the Florida Chapter of Iraq Veterans Against the War.

The Miami May Day Alliance would like you to join us in celebrating workers and working class people on International Worker's Day, Friday, May 1st, 2009. We are aiming for an early evening march so that as many working people as possible may join us. We had a tremendously successful march along this route in 2008 and are extremely excited about this year's march. We will confirm details and provide further information in the coming weeks.
